Workflow Description
A self-contained n8n workflow that processes new client records locally with no external calls. It checks required clientId and companyName, email format, case-insensitive duplicate IDs and emails, allowed tier (starter/growth/enterprise) and positive contract value. Valid records get a normalized workspace key and a tier-based subfolder list; every record is tagged accepted or rejected with explicit reasons. It does not create cloud folders or send real emails; those are optional extensions.
How it works
- 1.Manual Trigger starts the run.
- 2.Sample Contract Payloads emits four fictional records: two valid, one duplicate, one malformed.
- 3.Validate and Normalize Contracts checks fields and duplicates, building workspaceKey and expectedSubfolders.
- 4.Branch On Validation splits records by isValid.
- 5.Two Set nodes add processingStatus and rejectionReasons while keeping all fields.
- 6.Merge Records appends both branches and Format Specification Output enforces a stable schema.
Use cases
- Pre-checking new client data before provisioning storage.
- Blocking duplicate client IDs or contact emails within an intake batch.
- Standardizing workspace naming and tier-based folder structure.
Requirements
- n8n 2.42.6 or compatible.
- No credentials needed for the demo run.
- For production: replace the sample node with a Webhook or CRM trigger, and optionally add HTTP Request nodes with your own Google Drive, Airtable or SendGrid credentials.
Setup and testing in n8n
- Import the JSON into n8n and click Execute Workflow.
- Confirm CLI-2026-101 and CLI-2026-102 get VALIDATED_SPEC_READY with correct subfolders.
- Confirm the third record is rejected for duplicate ID and email.
- Confirm CLI-2026-103 is rejected with four reasons: name, email, tier, value.
- Edge case: empty the sample list and confirm the run finishes without errors.
