Create a Product Requirements Document for a New Feature from a Product Epic

About this skill

A skill that makes the agent act as an expert product manager on a large-scale SaaS platform. It turns a feature or enabler taken from an Epic into a detailed Product Requirements Document (PRD) in Markdown format. The document includes: the feature name, a link to the parent Epic, the goal (problem, solution and impact), user personas, user stories, functional and non-functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and what is out of scope. The agent asks clarifying questions if the information is insufficient.

How do you use this skill?

1. Prepare the request context according to the template provided in the skill: a link to the parent Epic documentation, a general description of the feature idea, and optionally an initial idea of the target users. 2. Ask the agent to create the document. Example user request: "Create a PRD for a CSV report export feature within the Analytics Dashboard Epic. The link to the Epic documentation is docs/ways-of-work/plan/analytics-dashboard, and the target users are account managers." 3. Answer any clarifying questions the agent may ask about unspecified aspects, such as edge cases or performance and privacy constraints. 4. Review the resulting document and its eight sections, checking in particular the user stories in the format "As a … I want to … so that …" and the acceptance criteria in checklist or Given/When/Then format. 5. The document is saved at the path /docs/ways-of-work/plan/{epic-name}/{feature-name}/prd.md, to be used later as a reference for the engineering team and for preparing technical specifications.

Requirements and limitations

The skill does not require external tools or accounts; it consists of text instructions only. The agent needs write permission for files within the repository to save the document at the specified path; otherwise, the content can be displayed as text and copied manually. It is recommended to have the parent Epic documentation (the PRD document and the architecture document) available for reference, as the quality of the result depends on the clarity of the information provided. The skill does not automatically verify the accuracy of data or links, and the resulting document requires human review. The files are licensed by GitHub under the MIT License.
