Workflow Description

Reads a {records, config} wrapper, builds a trimmed, lowercased composite key, and groups matching records. It fills non-empty values, resolves differing values by source priority or latest valid updatedAt per field rule, and leaves fields without a rule as unresolved conflicts. Each conflict stores the chosen value, its source and record, plus every candidate with its source. An IF splits groups needing review, Merge appends both paths, and a final Code node outputs one report including invalid records.

How it works

  1. 1.Manual Trigger starts the run.
  2. 2.Code node emits fictional device records and config.
  3. 3.Code node validates, groups by composite key, resolves conflicts and records lineage.
  4. 4.IF node routes groups with unresolved conflicts.
  5. 5.Set nodes tag needs_review or auto_resolved.
  6. 6.Merge appends both paths; final Code builds a single report.

Use cases

  • Reconciling device records from CMDB, MDM and spreadsheets.
  • Consolidating duplicate contacts while keeping disagreements reviewable.

Requirements

  • No credentials needed.
  • Define keyFields, sourcePriority, fieldRules and emptyValues.
  • Provide input as a {records, config} wrapper.

Setup and testing in n8n

  1. Import the JSON into n8n and execute manually.
  2. Verify 3 groups, 2 invalid records and 1 unresolved conflict.
  3. Set records to an empty array and verify zero counts.
  4. Change sourcePriority and observe different chosen values.
