If you haven't posted a live video on Instagram yet, you're in luck. In this article, we'll dive into how to go live on Instagram in five easy steps – plus, we'll talk about a look at our favorite tips for taking advantage of live streaming, promoting your product or brand well, and becoming a popular influencer. It is important to note that these instructions will only work if you are opening the Instagram app on mobile.

However, if you prefer to create Instagram live video from your desktop, you'll need to use a third-party app like Loola TV. How to do a live broadcast on Instagram Open your Instagram app and tap the camera icon in the upper left corner. Scroll to “Live,” then click the white circle button.

In the bottom navigation bar, swipe all the way to the left until you see “Live.” Then click on the big white circle to start recording. (Note: You'll know you're live when you see the pink “Live” button at the top of the screen, as well as the text “We'll tell your followers you've started a live video” at the bottom.) Filter your live video.

If you want to filter your live video, tap the smiley face icon in the top right corner of the screen. Then scroll through the options that appear at the bottom. Invite others to join your live event.

To increase engagement with your live video, tap your profile (top left of the screen), then “Invite Others to Join” to invite your colleagues, friends, clients, fellow influencers, etc. Use the Q&A feature to interact with viewers and answer questions. When followers start joining, you'll want to keep track of any questions they ask.

To do this, click the question mark icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. This is where you will be able to see and respond to your followers' questions. Co-host a live event with brands or other influencers on Instagram.

To expand your reach, consider co-hosting a live event with other brands or influencers in the Instagram Live Room. To go live in a room, click the video player icon, then “invite” other users to go live with you, or search for someone else’s live videos in the search bar. End the video when you're ready.

To end the video, click the “X” in the upper-right corner of your screen, and select the pink “End Now” button. How to Share or Save Your Live Video You may want to share your live video on IGTV, so that followers can still watch the video on your Instagram account after the fact. To save your Instagram Live video and share it on IGTV, just follow these steps.

When you click “End Video” in your live video, Instagram will give you three pop-up options: “Share to IGTV,” “Download Video,” or “Delete Video.” To share the video on IGTV, click “Share to IGTV,” then the blue “Next” button at the top right of the screen. Next, edit your cover photo, title, and description.

When you're happy with that, click “Publish” at the top right. If you choose to share your live video on IGTV, your followers can continue watching and rewatching whenever they're available. If you're only creating an exclusive live event at the same time, you may want to skip this step, but otherwise, it's a good idea to keep the content you've created in order for it to reach followers who couldn't join the live stream.

The plus sign in the video recorder icon allows you to join an Instagram Live Room. Live Room is a good opportunity to co-host a live video with up to three guests – allowing you to quickly expand your reach.

For example, maybe you partner with a few influencers in your industry to create a roundtable discussion, with yourself as the host. Followers of these influencers will ideally check out the live video and learn more about your brand as a result. The bubble question mark icon allows you to share questions with your viewers.

(It's important to note that you'll only be able to share questions if someone submits a question during your live video.) The paper airplane icon lets you send someone a direct message about your Instagram video, which you might want to do if you're hoping to invite someone who hasn't yet joined your live video to watch it.
