Google is working to add a shipment tracking feature directly to search results
By Admin
Google is integrating package and shipment tracking into search results, allowing users to get information without visiting shipment tracking websites and providers. People will be able to enter their shipment tracking number into the Google search bar and see the status of their order in real time, all with ease. The company commented on this step by saying: “People often come to Google Search to search for information about the status of their packages. To facilitate the search, we have created a new package tracking feature that enables shipping companies to show the status of their packages and shipments to people directly on search.”
Although this feature seems to be a blow to telecom sites and sites that offer shipment tracking that can lose a lot of traffic, it is important to note that the inclusion is completely voluntary. This means that shippers must opt in in order to allow the search engine to display their tracking information. Shippers are invited to sign up via the Early Adopter Program, it is available to all countries so any shipper can be part of this feature.
It will be interesting to see how many shipping companies end up participating in this feature. On the other hand, sites that offer shipment tracking will be afraid of all major and emerging companies participating in the search engine feature.
