Apple expands search ads on the App Store to 46 more countries

Search ads on the App Store are a tool available to marketers who want to promote their applications available on the store, increase the number of downloads, and appear at the top of search results related to the niche of their applications and games. Now the American company has decided to expand these ads to 46 additional countries, so users in those countries will see advertising search results when searching and provide ads relevant to the searches they are conducting. The tech giant publicly launched search ads in 2016 (more than a year after paid advertising began on Google Play).

The following year, Apple expanded support for search ads in Canada, Mexico, and Switzerland, and introduced Search Ads Basic, which eliminated keywords and bidding to meet the needs of developers who didn't have the experience or resources to manage traditional paid search campaigns. Last year, a Bernstein Research analyst estimated that search ads would bring in $500 million over the course of 2018 and predicted that the platform could generate $2 billion in 2020. Now that the number of supported countries has more than quadrupled, Apple may be on its way to surpassing that number and breaking expectations. Reaching untapped audiences can be a game-changer for any brand, although an increase in supported territories may add an extra layer of complexity on top of the criteria app marketers are already used to using (e.g. keywords, device types, etc.).
