5 must-have elements for any useful local Google+ page

5 must-haves for any useful local Google+ page Addresses of businesses that operate within a service area without a front-end service should be hidden If you serve customers at their location, we ask that you hide your business location on Google Maps. To determine whether you need to hide your address, you can answer the following question: Can a customer walk into your location without an appointment and expect service from you? If the answer is no, this means that the address must be hidden.
If you run a business that operates in a service area without a front-end, you should use Google Places to hide your address. Unfortunately, this feature is not yet available on local pages created in Google+ using social features. Address Format If you want to specify where you receive mail at your physical address, include a PO box or suite number on the second line of the address.
This may eventually cause your address to appear as reformatted in Google Maps, but it is important to include this information in the second address line within your Google Places for Business dashboard for data processing purposes. You do not need to add any information other than your address and PO box number when entering your address. Actual location and phone number We do not accept mail receiving agencies, such as post offices or UPS offices, as business locations.
Even if your business is used to receiving mail this way, please include your physical location in your Google Places for Business account. If you don't want to show this address (such as your home address), there is an option to hide your address and select a public location for the service instead in your Google Places for Business dashboard. The location you include must be occupied by your business during business hours.
Spell-checking and various other things It's certainly important that your copy is very current, but you should avoid using characters that shift like © and $. If your listing is in English, consider using the standard alphabet, and so on. Don't forget to not include any URLs in the title, unless that title is actually the name of your business.
Multiple businesses If you manage multiple businesses, don't forget that you are responsible for all listings to adhere to our quality guidelines. There are some common errors we often see on business owners' listings. So please review our guidelines carefully to ensure that the listing you use is as useful as possible and to ensure that your listing provides the appropriate information that your target customers are looking for.
