The only thing you may not want to see is a message on Webmaster Tools, stating that a manual action has been applied to your site due to illegal/natural links. Manual Action VS Google Algorithmic Penalty There is a lot of confusion about the actions/punishments that Google carries out on your site. In general, there are two types of these actions: manual and algorithmic. The first beginning of algorithmic actions was with the launch of the Penguin update, which targeted violating sites in the process of building backlinks.

We will highlight, with a little detail, the difference between these two types of penalties and what is the difference between each type. Manual procedures: Manual procedures depend entirely on the human element, as a Google employee reviews your site and reviews your site’s link file. If the employee finds any fraud in the link building process, a warning will be sent to your webmaster account stating the presence of illegal links. If the practice you have undertaken represents clear fraud on the search results, then the Google employee decides to impose a penalty on your site. This procedure is called

Unnatural links to your site. Algorithmic procedures: These procedures are applied automatically with every announcement of a new update (penguin update - panda update, etc.).

In the recent period, we have noticed an increase in this type of search procedure, which has become periodic, and every month or two is not without an update to one of these algorithms. Google is putting great efforts into improving these algorithms throughout the year to maintain a high percentage of pure and useful content in the first results of searches. This also ensures that Google stays ahead of competitors and maintains a very good user experience. Now that you know the difference between manual and algorithmic actions, let's review the specific types of warnings

Manual procedures that you may encounter. The first warning: Unnatural backlinks coming from your site. This warning is the result of backlinks resulting from improper practices that you carry out on your site, for example (selling links), which prompts a Google employee to impose a penalty on the relevant part of your site with a mail that is as follows: Usually the best solution for this punishment is to place a tag rel=”nofollow” on the links coming from your site that you believe may cause a danger to you. That is, it is preferable that you place this tag on all links to text ads on your site, as well as direct image ads.

The second warning: Unnatural backlinks are coming to your site. The second type of warning comes when you get a message in Google Webmaster Tools that contains information stating that there are unnatural backlinks coming to your site. Google provides a few links as examples of bad links coming to your website. This is also a violation of Google's guidelines and will lead to a penalty for your site.

This type of practice may not be what you planned to do, and someone who wants to harm you may have published your site in this way, so there will only be a penalty on a specific domain or part of the site, and that part that has many unnatural links. However, if a Google employee confirms that you are carrying out these practices, the penalty may extend to the entire site to the point of preventing it from appearing in search results completely.

What is the solution to get rid of bad backlinks?

There are practical steps to get rid of the problem of getting your site's backlinks blocked, and we will mention them step by step. Download a list of your site's links from webmaster tools or through the Penguin program. After downloading the list, you should start checking the sites one by one to see if it is normal or not. To make the work easier, start with the sites that send you backlinks in large numbers. You can rely on many signals to know whether this site is sending you a normal link or a bad link, either through side programs such as the Penguin program or through manual examination, and this is what I usually prefer. The manual examination involves (reviewing the location of the link - the content of the domain - the extent to which the content relates to your site - the times the link to your site is repeated on the page and other matters, the area that you should focus on).

After identifying upcoming bad links, contact the site owners to remove them or place a nofollow tag on them. Google asks you to try seriously to communicate with site owners before submitting a request to disavow backlinks, and it may ask you to provide pictures of the conversation between you and the site owner so that the decision is taken by Google to remove backlinks from a specific site. After many experiments, we found that sometimes you may need to send a request to review your site links again in order for the ban on your site to be lifted, and this procedure has been adopted in a number of sites that we manage.

So getting rid of bad links is not difficult and we can do it within several days, but the most important point here remains how to build backlinks in the first place and why we want to build backlinks and where should we do it, and will these links appear normal or will they be detected and the site put in danger? Share with us your experiences with backlinks, others may benefit from them. #backlinks
